Some encouraging news! I wonder if as we have prayed for a revival over the years, that God is going to answer in a way that will astonish us all! Revival is about God doing something with the Church, reigniting that faith, fire, conviction and spiritual fervour within the Church.
A revived Church is an evangelistic Church, captured with a renewed sense of vision and purpose, and an overwhelming sense of God’s manifest Presence. They don’t need any convincing about the Lord, they love Him, serve Him and for them, “grace, mercy and forgiveness” are the dominant message of mission, accompanied by the Spirit-convincing message of repentance. If anything, that message is what draws people to repentance.
We need revival – and more!
For some, revival will be the heavy, tangible presence of God accompanied by signs and wonders, miracles, healings and of course, people turning to Jesus.
Looking at the state of the Church in whatever Country you live in, you will agree, we need revival. The problem is that as we pray for revival, many of us will have different views of what we actually mean. For some, it is about thousands coming to repentance and trust in Christ.
For others it will be the heavy, tangible presence of God accompanied by signs and wonders, miracles, healings and of course, people turning to Jesus.
Whatever your definition is, it may well be that God is about to do something bigger, better and more profound than you ever imagined. It could well be that what is coming is far greater than your conceptual understanding of revival.
God didn’t tell you to pray for revival, but he did tell you to pray for the unsaved, for your neighbour, for the leaders and rulers of your nation. And in praying for them, salvation was a key and important part of it.
We’re praying for the nations and particularly that we will be able to make disciples of them for Christ.
Even cessationists believe in angels, and a good thing too because there is something afoot!
Whatever your definition is, it may well be that God is about to do something bigger, better and more profound than you ever imagined.
We’ve prayed, fasted and prayed and prayed for revival, for thousands to turn to Jesus in this ever troubled world. We have gone home and prayed. We’ve prayed on our way to work, at work and on our way home again; for revival. Then we have gathered again and reached out to God, time and time again, for revival.
And God heard. Hears. Listens.
We’ve sowed the seed often, sparingly and sometimes gushingly. It says on the side of seed packets, “sow 4-6 inches apart”. We have sown the seed across miles and miles of prayer-cultivated land, the seed has been scattered, dropped, planted 1-2 cm apart. There are places where we have planted seed upon seed, just in case, you never know…
I have a feeling that God has heard the cry for revival, as we have cried out to God for that which He was laying on our hearts, we said one thing, and meant another; and God intends to answer that prayer.
This will be like factor 15 on the Richter scale when it comes to revival!
Hebrews tells us of Jesus bringing many sons to glory. Jesus deserves to have the whole of the world put their trust in Him. Revival’s come and go. When we have got a revival, then what? Where does our passion go then? When you have chased the train and then caught up with it what do you do then? Historically we have walked away from every revival. No, the Lord has something bigger planned. It’s even bigger than Israel’s heart being turned to the Messiah!
The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. (Hab 2:14)
The answer is that there is an unprecedented harvest coming!
We have planted the seed, it is being watered and God is going to give the increase! This will be like factor 15 on the Richter scale when it comes to revival!
But who is going to help us – the task is so big? The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. (Matthew 13:39)
Help is on the way, massive, astonishing assistance is coming – keep praying and believing!
Oh! And keep sowing the seed everywhere you can. Tell your story of what God has done for you to everyone who will listen!
