I wanted to include a section where I could actively encourage those who know and trust Jesus Christ alone for their salvation.
The biggest challenge is we face is how to live our lives in the light of scripture and to do the things that both honour Christ, but also radically demonstrate our obedience to Him as our Lord and Saviour.
The intensely wonderful tension we live in, is that Christ has satisfied all the demands of the law on our behalf. and that everything we need for the approval and acceptance of the Father has already been provided judicially in Christ.
There is nothing we can do that can add to what Jesus did for us on the Cross, and yet, because of the work of grace in our hearts and God’s lavish kindness something has gripped our hearts, and we now want to do things that that honour, treasure and cherish our relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Grace leads us to want to live a life of holiness and purity. We are not gospel-driven or kingdom-driven, but refreshingly, we are grace-led.
In that initiative of the Spirit that has gripped our hearts is the desire to do everything we can to please God, (whilst knowing that we are totally reconciled to God and that our sin is removed as far as the East is from the West, and that all our shame has been removed and we are now the holiness of God in Christ!), we are a people in love with our God and the magnificent obsession of our hearts, lives, ministries and work ethic – is to see the supremacy of Christ in all things. No one compares with Him.
So how is that worked out?
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. (Acts 2:42)
In the midst of all that God was doing in their midst in the early Church, these things gripped their heart and moulded their lifestyles, vision and values.
These are some of the things I wish to address here in the coming days. Please feel free to comment, or add your insights. Above all, I want to encourage you to press in to God, love Him, fear Him, honour Him and delight in Him in all things – regardless of the extreme joys or desperate pain of suffering that life can sometimes brings.
Jesus is a wonderful saviour. Let me encourage you to press in to know, treasure and love Him forever.
